Support the horns during cleaning

Put the ring on after dressing and remove it for impact work because the horn tips can catch or strike hard surfaces.

Hold the shank rather than a horn while brushing around the skull and shield edges. Use a soft brush in recesses and light cloth pressure on raised planes. Canadian Conservation Institute guidance notes that polishing removes silver, so avoid repeatedly stripping intentional dark contrast.

Use the horn curl and pointed shield to identify the ring

The horns sweep outward from the skull before curling forward, while the narrow muzzle runs down the center of a geometric shield. Open side cutouts reduce the visual mass near the shoulders.

Ram skull describes the sculpted animal motif. The ring is not a biological specimen, taxidermy component, heraldic grant, ritual object or protective talisman. The inspected front, side and worn views retain the same sculpture and shank identity.

Center the long muzzle and horn span

The horns widen the upper face while the muzzle projects downward, so check both neighboring-finger clearance and knuckle passage. Measure the intended finger near the time of wear and make sure the chosen ring passes the knuckle. GIA sizing guidance treats band width, finger shape and measurement method as practical fit factors; a projecting face that rotates is not, by itself, proof that sizing down is safe.
