Description

The cupid archer brooch captures a winged figure in the act of drawing a curved bow across the body. Layered feathers, a bent leg and a heart-shaped arrow tip make the pose more specific than a generic angel or heart pin.

Choose a lapel with room for the wings

The worn view places the figure on a broad lapel, where the extended wing and bow remain easy to read. Keep nearby pocket squares or loose threads clear of the arrow and feather edges. For a suit, an existing buttonhole is the least intrusive placement when the motif aligns well there.

Use a soft cloth on raised feathers and the bow after wear. Avoid aggressive polishing in the wing grooves because the darker recesses help separate the layers.

A moving pose held in fixed relief

The bow crosses the torso from shoulder to knee while the rear wing fans outward behind the figure. One arm pulls the string, the other steadies the bow, and the small heart at the arrow tip supplies the love motif. All of these parts are fixed sculptural details; the bow, arrow and wings are not articulated.
